Did you know...

...that psychology was once a male-dominated discipline, but has changed dramatically over the course of the 20th century?

Mamie Clark was a pioneer in social psychology whose studies on racial discrimination contributed significantly to the decision in the famous Brown v. Board of Education case. Mary Ainsworth revolutionized our understanding of attachment theories with her "strange situation test." Anna Freud, daughter of Sigmund Freud, expanded psychoanalysis to include important concepts on child psychology. Karen Horney challenged existing theories and contributed significantly to the development of feminist psychology. Margaret Washburn was the first woman to receive a doctorate in psychology and published groundbreaking works on animal psychology. Mary Clarkin's was the first female president of the American Psychological Association (APA).

Our hoodie celebrates the women who have not only made critical contributions to the understanding of psychology, but have also significantly contributed to the representation of women in the discipline. Their legacy inspires future generations and demonstrates the importance of diversity and equality in psychology.
